UCC Film Writers is a collective of university students in Film and Screen Media, and we are committed to delivering original, thought-provoking work on contemporary cinema. Our work incorporates film theory, politics, and opinion in order to create an intelligent body of work while remaining widely accessible.
The Film and Screen Media department at University College Cork boasts a two-pronged approach that incorporates both academia and practical experience in filmmaking. The department hosts a number of masterclasses by prominent filmmakers, festival heads, writers, producers, and academics, and runs a journal called Alphaville.
